En la rueda de prensa celebrada por el presidente del UCI Pat McQuaid. ha declarado; "Confirmo que no habrá apelación ante el Tribunal de Arbitraje Deportivo (TAS) y que se reconoce la sanción impuesta por la USADA. La UCI prohibirá que Armstrong compita y le desposeerá de sus siete Tours de Francia. Lance Armstrong no tiene sitio en el ciclismo", dijo.
La USADA había enviado hace dos semanas su 'Decisión Razonada' al caso que implicaba al US Postal y al texano en una amplia trama de dopaje en el mundo del ciclismo y la UCI debía decidir si apelaba ante el Tribunal de Arbitraje Deportivo (TAS) o dictaminaba en contra, camino este por el que finalmente ha optado.
De este modo, la UCI retirará todos los triunfos logrados por el de Austin, que decidió optar por la no defensa de las acusaciones de la USADA, donde destacan las siete históricas victorias logradas en la 'Grande Boucle' de 1999 a 2005.
